A warming mat is a gentle, flameless way to keep food hot, but it is still a heating appliance. These simple precautions keep your table and family safe.
Use the child lock
LNNIW warming mats include a child lock. Once your temperature and timer are set, activate the lock (on the grey and blue mats, long-press the power button) so curious hands can't change the settings.
Protect the surface underneath
The grey and blue LNNIW mats come with a detachable heat-resistant pad. Placing it under the mat helps insulate wood, stone or laminate tables from heat.
Choose the right cookware
LNNIW mats work with glass, ceramic, stainless steel and enamelware dishes. Check that your dishes are heat-safe and have flat bottoms. Don't place sealed, unvented containers on the mat.
Let the timer do the work
Set one of the six presets (1–6 hours). The automatic shut-off helps if you get busy, but you should still never leave a heating appliance unattended for long periods.
Everyday rules
- Place the mat on a stable, flat, dry surface.
- Keep the mat and cord away from water, sinks and open flames. (The Waterproof model is designed for easier cleaning, but still follow the manual.)
- Don't cover the mat with towels or blankets.
- Inspect the cord before each use. Stop using the mat if it is damaged.
- Keep flammable items such as napkins and paper away from the surface.
- Unplug and cool before cleaning.
Food safety matters too
Keep cooked food at 140°F (60°C) or above, and discard perishable food left out for more than two hours. Read our hot-holding guide for details.
